Tips for a successful call.
Our volunteers work hard to return every call. To ensure we can process your request quickly, please follow these tips when leaving a voicemail on our intake line:
Speak Slowly and Clearly: We often listen to messages in busy environments. Taking your time helps us get every detail right.
Spell Your Name: Even common names can be spelled many ways. Please spell your first and last name for our records.
State Your Phone Number TWICE: Say your number at the beginning of the message and again at the end.
Tip: Say the numbers individually (e.g., "Five-Zero-Eight...") rather than in clusters.
Tell Us Your Town: We serve the Webster and Dudley area. Please confirm you are a resident so we can verify we are the correct conference to help you.
Be Specific About Your Need: * Instead of: "I need help with bills."
Try: "I am looking for assistance with a National Grid bill for $145."
Mention Any Deadlines: If you have a shut-off date or an eviction notice date, please tell us that date clearly.
Clear Your Voicemail Box: Please make sure your phone can receive messages! If your mailbox is full, we wonβt be able to leave you instructions on the next steps.
Keep Your Phone Nearby: Volunteers often call from "No Caller ID"Β "Private Caller" or "Restricted" numbers for privacy. If you are expecting a callback, try to answer these calls.Β
If you aren't sure what to say, try using this simple format:
"Hello, my name is [Name], spelled [S-P-E-L-L-N-A-M-E]. I live in [Webster/Dudley]. My phone number is [Phone Number]. I am calling for help with [Rent/Electric/Food]. The amount I need help with is [Amount]. Again, my phone number is [Phone Number]. Thank you."
We serve anyone in need in Webster, Dudley, and surrounding communities. You do not need to be Catholic or affiliated with the Catholic Church to receive help. Our only requirement is that you live in our service area and are experiencing a genuine need.
Confidentiality: All requests for assistance and all personal information shared with us are kept **strictly confidential**. We will never share your information with anyone outside of our volunteer team without your permission.
