The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) is one of the largest Catholic lay organizations in the world, founded in Paris in 1833 by Frédéric Ozanam and a small group of university students inspired to serve the poor. Today, SVDP has a presence in over 150 countries and hundreds of thousands of volunteers worldwide.
Our local conference — SvDP Webster/Dudley — is rooted in the parish of Sacred Heart of Jesus in Webster, Massachusetts. We are one chapter in a worldwide network, but our work is deeply personal and entirely local. Our volunteers live in this community. We know our neighbors, and we respond to their needs face to face.
Motivated by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering.
We do not simply write checks or hand out vouchers. We visit. We listen. We sit at kitchen tables, look people in the eye, and respond with both practical help and genuine human connection. That is the Vincentian way.
We are a volunteer-run, nonprofit organization. 100% of donations received go directly toward assisting our neighbors in need. We receive no government funding and rely entirely on the generosity of our parishioners and community.
We offer a range of assistance to individuals and families in Webster, Dudley, and surrounding areas:
🛒 Food & Groceries

🏠 Rent & Housing Support
👕 Clothing & Household Items
📞 Referrals to Other Resources
🤝 Emotional Support & Companionship
If you or someone you know needs assistance, please call us. Our volunteers are ready to listen and respond.
